Virginia Festival of History: May 26- June 3
With a focus on the rich and diverse history of Charlottesville, Celebrate!250 will partner with the the Albemarle-Charlottesville Historical Society and the Jefferson Thanksgiving to put on the Virginia Festival of History. This festival features all day living history in Court Square and Lee Park. In addition the festival includes lectures and panel discussions.
The festival will start, May 26, 11 am, with a Memorial Ceremony to honor soldiers buried at the UVa Cemetary.
On Sunday, May 27 at 2 pm, the Time Capsule, that was buried in 1962, will be unearthed.
Anniversary Celebration and Gala – Nov 12, 2012
An Inter-Faith Prayer breakfast, will be followed by a Veterans Day Ceremony and a official ceremony remembering the founding of Charlottesville. In the afternoon there will be children’s activities at the 250 Plaza. A Gala in the evening will be held at a location to be decided, followed by a Birthday Party Bash.
